Definitely, start with recognizing who’s coming in the door. Try not to judge based on how they’re looking. Like I said, with my mom, the dentist didn’t pay attention to the fact, first of all, that she’s a little older. She’s in severe pain. Of course, she got very upset when the dentist is saying, “There’s nothing we can do.” Or, “We need to save this.” Or, “We need to save that.” And I’m like, “Okay. Wait a minute. She’s hurting. Let’s just start there.” Let’s just start with the fact that she’s in severe pain and people keep telling her there’s nothing that they can do. They don’t want to pull them all out.
