Max and Zoe at the Dentist

Easy reader by Shelley Swanson Sateren and illustrated by Mary Sullivan. Picture Window Books: Mankato, MN, 2012.

Max has to have two baby teeth pulled out by the dentist to make room for his grown-up teeth. He is so scared that he even hides under the chair in the waiting room at the dentist. His friend, Zoe, reassures him it will all be fine. In the end, it doesn’t really hurt at all, and Max gets lots of wonderful things in return: soft foods like ice cream, money from the tooth fairy, and new tools as his prize from the dentist. Includes a glossary, discussion questions, writing prompts, and a craft activity to make a tooth box at the end of the book.
