Patients/community members discuss treatment costs. (2023)
Speaker 1: Then make sure they accept our insurance. That’s another problem too, right there. Certain dentists don’t accept the insurance that you have, and then what they do, I come to find out they do. They have you keep coming back. It’s what they was doing me, and then by the time right now I need my teeth pulled out. They done zapped my money in my account for my insurance, but they had me keep coming back. So I’m like, they was telling me, well you can get your teeth filled. I’m like, why would I get my teeth filled, and I got to get them all pulled out. You know? I’m like, uh-uh. They charge you even if you go in there. Yeah, they charged me 200 something dollars just for an x-ray and to check my teeth. Yeah.
Speaker 2: And insurance didn’t cover that?
Speaker 1: No, they denied it. Yeah. So it’s coming down my pocket that I got to pay.
Speaker 2: So what I’m hearing you say is that insurance doesn’t pay for what you need to have done.
Speaker 1: Not all insurance or not all dentist offices cover all insurance every all to what type of insurance you have. If they don’t accept it then you’re not going to get in there unless you have to pay out of your pocket.
