Narrative excerpt from patient/community member

Patients/community members discuss dental training/education and patient-provider interactions. (2023)

I think it would be better if there are any programs at the schools, like the dental school, can inform students that there is better affordable dental care. . .You have to when you start talking about affordability, your insurance or what you have to go through. She does now [the oral health provider], she’ll Google and find out whether they accept it or not, but, well my thing is this here. A lot of students is becoming doctors and dentists and stuff like that. They’re more professional to me. I haven’t seen even when I was a barber because I own my own barbershop, but going to school and becoming a barber or a dentist or a doctor, you have to really learn the skills. And so I’ve dealt with a lot of students than I did actual dentists or doctors because I felt like they were more experienced because they were really there to study. They would really do the thing, and they always had somebody that was over them making sure that they were doing the right thing.
And wasn’t arrogant. Some of dentists now are arrogant, very arrogant.
